SODA BLOSSOM STEAM CAKE / APAM SODA MEKAR

Soda Blossom Steam Cake is d easiest steam cake ever... 
BUT
 d challenge is to make sure that during d steaming, d cake cracks and blossoms. That's the trademark of this soda blossom steam cake, if your cake didn't crack.. that means, you failed in your attempts... Sorry to say that u got to re-do it again. Do not worry, as it is normal to fail in your first attempt. Many had that bad experience in fact many had failed in several attempts.

There are few versions of steam cake with d same appearance but different taste.. Some with soda some not.. Some with ENO and some not.. some with rice flour and some with normal flour... However, the important aspect of this type of cake is, CRACK & BLOSSOM... some even called it as SMILING..

See.. they r all cracking & smiling..

Bermula dari hujung minggu lepas hinggalah ke awal minggu ini, ogyep sibuk mengAPAM, bagi memenuhi tempahan pelanggan.. Bila dah mengukus tu... mulut ni tak kering jugalah, asyik mengemam si apam tu... Badan pun dah naik kembang macam si apam-apam tu..


Resepi Apam ini, sudah lama berada di dalam simpanan dan memang sering ogyep buat.. Apam ini diperkenalkan oleh teman sekerja semasa mula2 bekerja dulu, lebih kurang 16 tahun yang lepas.
Rata-ratanya, sahabat blogger masakan pun memang sudah arif dengan resepi ini... 


Kepada yang berminat, bolehlah mencuba..

SODA BLOSSOM STEAMED CAKE RECIPE / RESEPI APAM SODA MEKAR
INGREDIENTS / BAHAN
230 g caster sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp ovelette
1 tsp vanila
250 g flour
1 cup ice cream soda
Coloring of your choice

Emulco of your choice
eg. Green - pandan coconut emulco
Red - strawberry emulco
Yellow - plain
White - plain
METHOD / CARA :
1. Beat eggs, ovelette and sugar till very thick and creamy / Pukul telur, ovelette dengan gula sehingga kembang dan gebu
2. Fold in the flour and add ice cream soda, alternately. / Masukkan tepung berselang seli dengan ais krim soda sedikit demi sedikit
3. Bring water ti boil in steamer./ Panaskan kukusan
4. Divide mixture and color base on your preference & put in piping bag./ Bahagikan adunan dan warnakan mengikut pilihan anda dan masukkan ke dalam piping bag.
5. Line  'chinese small tea cups' with paper cup and pipe in mixture. You can play around with the color / Alaskan acuan lompang dengan kertas cupcake dan masukkan adunan dalam acuan. Anda boleh bermain dengan warna mengikut kesukaan anda

6. As for me, I will pipe in 2 colours in a cup. 1 color with emulco & d other color with plain taste. / Saya paipkan 2 warna di dalam setiap mangkuk - 1 warna dengan perasa & 1 warna tanpa perasa.
7. Fill cups with mixture but only 2/3 full. / Isikan 2/3 penuh.
8. Cover d steamer led with cloth to avoid water dripping onto d cakes and steam for 10-12 mins till well risen. / Balut penutup kukusan dengan kain untuk mengelakkan air menitik di atas apam. Kukus selama 10-12minit.
 
9. Remove from tea cups and rest to cool / keluarkan dari acuan dan biarkan sejuk sebelum dihidang.

ini adalah antara batch delivery pertama yang dibuat.

    Akak suka apam cenggini.. mekar gitueeeewww.. nak2 kalau ada inti kelapa kat dalam tu.. peh! kalau ada jual kat luar.. hakak ko ni akan memborong segala apa yang ada tau... jangan memain.. orangnya rendang tapi selera besor hhaahhaa..

    Dah nak balik ni.. dengan harapan magic! kuih hapam tu berada di hadapan muka ku sekarang jugak! secara live! dan bukan mimpi aje... muahzzz

      There's few tips on how to make sure your cake cracks... Your steamer must be on high heat.. Pipe in at least 3/4 of batter in d cup.. Do not put so many cups on one shot.. MOST IMPORTANT, do not open your steamer min of 10 min...

      Check it out & try ya... let me know whether d cake still merajuk or not..
