SIRIH PULANG KE GAGANG.. NASI GORENG KAMPUNG

"Ibarat sirih pulang ke gagang
Nasi goreng kampung yang dapat ku hidang"


Kampung Fried Rice aka Nasi Goreng Kampung.. is not a something recipe.. But, it's sometimes means a lot to certain people.
A simple and quick menu.

Nasi goreng kampung is a fried rice with dried anchovies and traditional condiments. It is a traditional, village style fried rice, usually very spicy. 

Nasi Goreng Kampung, a Malay Antique styled fried rice. The recipe may varies, you can opt to put long beans, water convolvulus and dried anchovies. 
These ingredients are always featured in the Malay cooking and it comes together in this fried rice. 
This may not be your first time eating d fried rice, thai-styled Malay restaurants have this in their menus and you must have been eaten this countless times.

Normally, I will cook the rice for this particular dish the night before. The rice will be fluffier in texture. A little advise from my Mom, "do not use d just cooked or hot rice to make fried rice, your fried rice will be a bit sticky"

NASI GORENG KAMPUNG

 Ingredients:
4 cups any local fragrant rice
5-6 pc chilli padi - (Chilli padi are small green or red chilli also known as bird's eye chilli. It is very spicy. Use it sparingly if you are not used to spicy food)
3 pc garlic - pulverized
8 pc shallots - pulverized
20 pc anchovies - pulverized
1 pc whole egg
Sayur kangkung or water convolvulus (an Asian leaf vegetables) - I did not put kangkung as my kids are allergic to vegetables, mengada-ngada.. susah bebenor nak makan sayur

Method:
1. Heat the oil in a wok and saute the chopped ingredients until fragrant.
2. Add the egg and stir well. 


3. Add all other ingredients to it. Stir well and adjust the season.




You can opt to fry some anchovies for garnishing purpose to be eaten together withe fried rice. I did not do this as my kids do not like to anchovies. Normally i will pulverized the anchovies together with the shallot & garlic (it is now hidden anchovies - then they will eat it)
